Five Lever Friday | Vol. 24

Bringing you inspiration, ideas, and tools to help you achieve Authentic Wealth

Authentic Wealth is bigger than just financial accumulation – it recognizes the interconnectedness of all aspects of life. It is created when your resources (the 5 levers – Finances, Mindset, Relationships, Health and Time) are aligned with your values, your vision and are ultimately used to achieve the impact you want to have on yourself, your family, your community and the world.

MINDSET

We’ve talked about the importance of gratitude – but what does it mean to have a “gratitude practice”? The practice that you tend to hear about most is a gratitude journal where you write down several things that you are grateful for and why every day. This blog has 8 daily practices you can try along with some additional resources.

RELATIONSHIPS

“Modern loneliness masks as hyper-connectivity. I can have a thousand virtual friends, but nobody to feed my cat. Nobody to ask to go and pick up a prescription at a pharmacy, but a thousand people who are giving me likes and dislikes and all kinds of things that are now becoming the foundation of my self-esteem. And that’s a different kind of loneliness. It’s not about being physically alone, it’s about being misunderstood, unseen, rejected, ostracized, all of that.”

HEALTH

I love health tracking wearables – you name it, I have probably tried it. From FitBits, to Apple Watch, to Whoop, to Oura Rings to the latest, Apollo Neuro. Can there be a downside to wearables? To having too much data?

Dr. Matthew Walker, the author of our next Abaris 5 Lever Book Club, says “yes and no…”

You can learn more about his opinion at 1:03:24 in this The Knowledge Project podcast episode:  link here

TIME

If you read last week’s newsletter, I’m curious if you added up your own screen time? As you know, I did and I didn’t like the answer I got! (it was 10 years lost to my phone)

I have found an iPhone app that I really like so far called Opal – it lets you customize when you can use certain apps. I have put a daily limit on social media and I also put a limit on work email during non-work hours… so far I have cut down my screen time by 1-2 hours a day.

If you have an iPhone, check it out: link here.
