Five Lever Friday | Vol. 25

Bringing you inspiration, ideas, and tools to help you achieve Authentic Wealth

Authentic Wealth is bigger than just financial accumulation – it recognizes the interconnectedness of all aspects of life. It is created when your resources (the 5 levers – Finances, Mindset, Relationships, Health and Time) are aligned with your values, your vision and are ultimately used to achieve the impact you want to have on yourself, your family, your community and the world.

FINANCES

MINDSET

We’ve talked about the value of journaling in previous newsletters… another approach that I like is author Julia Cameron’s “Morning Pages”. The idea is that you journal anything and everything in your mind first thing in the morning – ideally handwritten and filling three pages. There have been many times when I had zero interest in doing this exercise and started my first page with “I don’t want to do this right now and I have nothing to write…” And I have often been surprised by what ends up on the page. Let me know if you decide to give it a try.

RELATIONSHIPS

“Before you can be emotionally intelligent, you need to be emotionally literate. And emotional literacy means that at any moment, you can pause and ask yourself what feeling is here now and have an answer.” – Jim Dethmer

HEALTH

A huge study by MoTrPAC has uncovered why exercise is so beneficial for our health by examining how it changes our genes and proteins. They found specific molecular networks that explain exercise’s benefits and hope this could lead to “exercise in a pill” for those who can’t work out. This research could help create personalized exercise plans and new treatments for chronic illnesses.

TIME

The Abaris Five Lever Book Club just finished reading When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing by Daniel Pink (https://a.co/d/f9qL3Iz). One of the author’s tips to reduce eye strain and regain focus is the 20-20-20 Rule – every 20 minutes pick something 20 feet away from you and look at it for 20 seconds.  Another tip is to take a break for 17 minutes of every hour by taking a walk with someone, outside, without any devices.
